Hi, dear anonymous who wrote the first comment,
It is good idea to let this old mother to live in her homeland with strong Buddhist influence in the sunset of her life. She can practice dana, sila and bawana as much as she can. It is so important for elderly persons to collect kuthala urgently and timely by now, because their life-clock is alarming them to the end. This might be a little bitter to claim, but unfortunately is is the truth.
My own mother is staying in Myanmar. I considered to bring her to West but I did not carry out this plan. She can live with more luxurious style here, under best health care system, good apartments, 24 hours electricity, modern and well designated furniture. But she will lose the great chance to practice dana and bawana, to meet with Buddhist monks so easily, etc. That is not so good for her last days.
Just eating, sleeping, watching TV, and wondering the people who walking in the streets in front of their apartment, That is the daily life of many old people here. I do not want my mother to live in such boring life style.
So for my point of view, Ma Shin Lay's decision is right. I absolutely accept that she love her own mother and decides for her mother's best interest.
